Hematology & Oncology

The Division of Hematology and Oncology provides state-of-the-art care for patients with hematopoietic (blood) disorders and cancer. The division is committed to advancing the clinical care of patients to treat the vast array of oncologic malignancies through a multidisciplinary, patient-centric philosophy that combines the latest in medical science with individualized, compassionate care ensuring that each patient receives the most personalized treatment possible.

Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, researchers, healthcare fellowship trainees and clinical staff work together to provide state-of-the-art patient care through innovative treatments such as immunotherapy, targeted therapies, chemotherapy and theranostic medicine. Complementing our clinical care is our robust clinical research program which includes clinical and data outcome trials along with translational research into the mechanisms by which cancers grow, evolve and respond to therapies.

In July 2024 the division welcomed its first cohort for the first GME-accredited clinical fellowship program in Hematology/Oncology. Our goal is to educate the next generation of hematologists and oncologists who are committed to serving East Texas.

Our mission is to work with excellence and to have the highest standards of quality, through clinical care, research and education, to make a difference in the life of patients and their families who fight cancer and hematologic diseases, bringing hope and a chance to heal.
