As of July 1, 2022, The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine (SOM) currently holds the status of preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). This information can be found in the LCME directory.

About the Liaison Committee on Medical Education:

The LCME is a national accrediting body that oversees medical education programs granting MD degrees in the U.S. and Canada. The role of the LCME is to determine if a medical education program granting the MD degree meets the national standards in addition to establishing institutional and programmatic quality improvement efforts. The American Medical Association (AMA) and the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) jointly sponsor the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.

UT Tyler SOM Progress:

The University of Texas at Tyler SOM is currently working towards provisional accreditation with the LCME and admitted the inaugural cohort of medical students in July of 2023. The anticipated timeline for our provisional LCME site visit is January, 2025.
