Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine in Tyler, Texas.

Our mission is to train future generations of pulmonary and critical care physicians to be leaders in high quality patient care, research and public health in East Texas, the State of Texas and across the United States.

Our program is part of a larger academic institution, the UT Tyler School of Medicine, a new medical school that commenced its first class in July 2023. The school is the region’s only academic medical center. The school, in partnership with Ardent Health Services, has formed the UT Health East Texas Health System, a 10-hospital, 80 plus clinic health system providing quality care across the entire East Texas region. In addition, we have several residency programs (anesthesiology, family medicine, internal medicine, preventive medicine, psychiatry, surgery) and fellowships (cardiovascular medicine, gastroenterology, hematology and oncology, hospice and palliative care, nephrology) with plans to add more.

Our fellows will work closely with faculty throughout the three-year program. Our fellows will be exposed to the practices of both pulmonary and critical care medicine. Our fellows will learn the value of working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment by interacting with faculty and staff from many disciplines, including anesthesiology, surgery and surgical subspecialities, medical subspecialities, microbiology, clinical research and more. Our fellows will also have an opportunity to train and educate residents and medical students in the fields of pulmonary and critical care medicine.

If you find a new and growing program stimulating, we welcome you to apply to our program. We are interested in individuals eager to advance the care of our patients and the science of our disciplines.
