Early Assurance Pathway
EAP Overview
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is excited to announce the Early Assurance Pathway (EAP). This pathway provides selected undergraduate juniors and seniors the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program activities designed to enhance their skills to become a more competitive applicant to medical school.
Students in the EAP program will participate in educational and immersive activities that can include workshops focusing on leadership development, healthcare careers, tips and tricks to being a successful med students, and more. Students will also sharpen their skills through clinical shadowing, simulation labs, volunteering, and other engaging program activities.
EAP Basics
- Have completed a minimum of 60 undergraduate credit hours.
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on the last 30 credit hours of BCPM courses.
- Be a current student at one of the EAP collaborating institutions.
- Complete all EAP application materials.

The following undergraduate institutions are collaborators with this program: Stephen F. Austin State University, Jarvis Christian University, Texas College, The University of Texas at Tyler, Wiley College, East Texas Baptist University, LeTourneau University, and Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
Undergraduate students classified as juniors or seniors and completed at least 60
credit hours from one of the collaborating institutions are eligible to apply to the
EAP program.
*If you are a graduate from one of the collaborating institutions and have not been
post-graduation more than two years, you are eligible to apply for the EAP program.
The Early Assurance Program works in two phases. 40 total students will be selected to participate in the EAP program. From those 40 students, the Admissions Committee can select up to 15 for admittance to the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
The program lasts for two years and is split into two phases.
Letters of recommendation should come from individuals who are able to effectively and adequately write about your character, work ethic, and ability to succeed in medical school. These can be from professors, staff members at your institution, staff from a volunteer organization, religious clergy, and others.
You can submit three letters of recommendation.
We only need your unofficial undergraduate transcript to be uploaded into the application portal. If you are a transfer student, please upload all transcripts.
