Gastroenterology Fellowship Overview
About The Program
The Gastroenterology Fellowship at the UT Tyler School of Medicine through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education will have a class of two fellows in training each year, with a total complement of six fellows by 2026. We offer an exceptional patient population with exposure to a mix of simple and complex patient/cases. Fellows will receive hands-on training with outstanding core and non-core faculty with state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest technology. Upon graduation, fellows will be very competent and highly confident in their abilities to purse a successful academic or clinical career as a Gastroenterologist.

The school, in partnership with Ardent Health Services, has formed the UT Health East Texas Health System, a 10-hospital, 50+ clinic health system providing quality care across the entire East Texas region. Our UT Tyler School of Medicine Gastroenterology Fellowship Program’s governing body, the Graduate Medical Education Committee, provides oversight to these sponsored fellowship programs and has decades of experience in directing successful graduate medical education programs which continue to produce highly competent and accomplished graduates each year. Backed by the University of Texas System, the leadership at the school and UT Health East Texas are determined to provide astonishing medical education, healthcare delivery and innovative research in East Texas.
Fellow Wellness
The UT Tyler School of Medicine places a strong emphasis on the wellbeing of all faculty, staff, residents, fellows and students, through the implementation of an Institutional Wellbeing Committee, which meets regularly to ensure the availability of adequate wellness resources. The Employee Assistance Program, which is available to all UT Tyler employees, offers counseling services, financial guidance, burnout surveys and other resources to aid in the prevention of burnout and the improvement of overall wellness.
