Overview

Academic advising at the UT Tyler School Medicine is focused through the Office of Student Affairs, Academic Houses, and Faculty Advising. This system of advisors assists students in completing academic requirements successfully and choosing academic coursework in an appropriate manner.

Student Affairs Office Hours

Students with questions related to academic advising are encouraged to stop by the Student Services (H Building; 1st Floor) suite every Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. for Student Affairs Office Hours. During these times, students can seek guidance regarding academic issues, career discernment, or wellness advice. The Student Affairs team has blocked off every Thursday from 1 – 2 p.m. to be readily available to students.

Individual Advising

Students seeking individual guidance regarding their academic progress or study habits can request individual appointments with the Director of Academic and Career Success.

Study Skills Workshops

All Phase 1 medical students are encouraged to participate in Study Skills Workshops held throughout the year. Topics include time management, utilizing resources, and are completely free! Attending these workshops will benefit students throughout their journey.

Tutoring
