Biography
Jose Vega, Pharm.D., is a clinical professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences
and Director of Interprofessional Education at Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy
at The University of Texas at Tyler. Dr. Vega received his PharmD from Texas Tech
University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy in 2003. He completed his PGY1
Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in 2004.
Dr. Vega has served as founding faculty for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences
Center School of Pharmacy Abilene campus. His administrative experiences at the School
of Pharmacy Abilene campus included serving as the Interim Regional Dean, Supervisor
for Lead Advisor, and Regional Director of Student Services.
Dr. Vega has practiced adult medicine pharmacy for 15 years in academic institutions
He has precepted numerous students and residents, and has been the recipient of multiple
preceptor of the year awards. His research areas include anticoagulation, sterile
compounding, and interprofessional education.
