Biography

Dr. Ochoa serves as the Associate Dean for Experiential Education and is a Clinical Professor at The University of Texas at Tyler Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a double major in Genetics from Texas A&M University. She then earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy (TTUHSC SOP). In 2004, she completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, Texas where she practiced as a clinical pharmacist. In 2007, Dr. Ochoa joined TTUHSC SOP as founding faculty of the Abilene campus. In this role, she assisted in the development of a new practice site for student experiential education. Dr. Ochoa practiced in Adult Medicine at Hendrick Medical Center (HMC) in Abilene from 2007 to 2018 where she helped develop new clinical pharmacy programs. She established the PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program with TTUHSC SOP/HMC for which she served as the Residency Program Director from 2007-2018. Dr. Ochoa’s practice specialties include Adult Medicine and sterile compounding. She is the co-author of “Concepts in Sterile Preparations and Aseptic Technique”, which has provided an international resource for sterile compounding education and practice.
