Biography
Chilean native, Nury Burnett has called East Texas home since 2017. She has taught
Spanish and English as a Second Language in Chile, Costa Rica, Australia, China, and
the United States for 13 years. Before joining UT Tyler as a Special Events Coordinator,
she worked as an instructor and coach for the Literacy Council of Tyler for four years.
In 2021, she co-founded Andina Fest with her South American pals to celebrate their
Latin roots. The event has taken place two years in a row bringing families and friends
to enjoy Latin music, food, and tons of dancing here in the Piney Woods. Nury is passionate
about education, culture, community, and well-being. In her free time, she enjoys
yoga, traveling, reading, storytelling, and trying new recipes. She loves to spend
time with her husband, Eric, and two pups, Pelusa and Opal.
