UT Tyler provides premiums toward health insurance from the first day of employment! The amount varies based on the coverage selected.

Retirement Plans

Each month the employee contributes 8.25% of earning to TRS and the state contributes 8.25%

 

Optional Retirement Program (ORP)

Faculty and eligible administrative and professional staff may elect to participate in ORP. Each month the employee contributes 6.65% of earnings towards ORP and the state contributes 8.5%.

Time Off

Employees receive 12 to 15 holidays per year.

 

Vacation

Vacation leave can be used after six months of continuous state employment. Unless faculty member has a 12 month appointment, they are not eligible for vacation leave. Vacation accrual rate increases according to years of service.

 

Sick

Sick leave accrual begins on the first day of employment. Sick leave accrues at eight hours per month.

Compensation

After two years of service, full-time non-faculty employees receive longevity pay of $20 per month. Longevity increases at the end of each two-year period thereafter.

 

Hazard

Commissioned peace officers in a hazardous duty position are entitled to hazardous duty pay of $10 per month for each 12 month period of accrued lifetime service credit.
