He joined as an assistant professor in Fall 2016 and promoted to associate professor in Fall 2021. He completed his postdoctoral training in medicine from Harvard Medical School in 2004, obtained his Ph.D. from faculty of technology at the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India in 2001, an M. Tech. degree in electrical engineering and B. Tech. degree in electrical & electronics engineering, both from the University of Calicut, India. Prior to joining UT Tyler, he was a faculty member in the Department of Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Dr. Indic also serves as the director of Center for Health Informatics & Analytics (CHIA) in which his research group is developing wearable sensor system and associated machine learning algorithms for the prediction of life threatening events in humans. The current research focus of CHIA is to develop wearable sensor system for the detection of cravings in individual with substance use disorder, detection of suicidal ideation in individuals with mental health conditions and prediction of life threatening events such as apnea, bradycardia and hypoxia in preterm infants. He is a Principal Investigator (Analytical Core) of a National Institute of Health UO1 grant as well as SBIR grant and a Co-Principal Investigator on a National Science Foundation training grant. He is also a co-investigator on a Department of Veterans Affairs grant that focuses on developing algorithms for the detection of suicidal ideation in military veterans.
