Biography
Dr. Md Masud Rana joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Tyler in Fall 2024. He completed his postdoctoral training from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada, in 2024 and obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 2023. Dr. Rana earned his Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Khulna, Bangladesh, in 2017, and 2013 respectively.
Dr. Rana also serves as the director of Energy Harvesting and Sensing lab (EHS-Lab) in which his research group is designing and developing self-powered sensing system
for the real time applications, including structural health monitoring (SHM) in the
aerospace industry to enhance aircraft safety and consistency through reliable sensor
networks, smart sensing system for remote agriculture monitoring, self powered sensor
for environmental monitoring such as, wind, moisture and temperature sensing. These
Built-in sensor networks enable uninterrupted structural integrity monitoring, crops
health, and greenhouse controlled through smart real time environment sensing by providing
crucial information.
Dr. Rana is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
Dr. Rana has been a recipient of several university-level, as well as national-level, awards.
