Biography
Dr. Leonard Brown is Chair and Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department
at The University of Texas at Tyler. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from
The University of Oklahoma in 2003. Prior to that, he was a Member of Technical Staff-I
at AT&T in Oklahoma City. His research interests include multimedia database management
systems and information retrieval. He has published over a dozen technical articles
in journals and conference proceedings, and he was awarded a NASA Summer Faculty Fellowship
in 2004 at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA. He is a member of ACM and
IEEE.
Teaching and Research Interests:
Dr. Brown’s primary teaching interests are in the area of data management including
relational databases, information retrieval, and advanced database management systems.
His research interests focus on the areas of image and information retrieval where
he uses editing operations to facilitate the searching process.
