Work-study programs provide undergraduate and graduate students with part-time employment in community service areas, reading and math tutor programs and university departments. Work-study awards are dependent on the student being hired, completing student worker orientation, and completing an employment packet with the Office of Human Resources.
Student workers may work up to 19.5 hours a week, but not exceed the full amount of the semester award. Student employees are paid twice monthly for the actual hours worked. Department supervisors will approve the hours for each payroll amount.
Work-study awards will not show as a credit on the student account. Work-study awards will not disburse or pay toward any outstanding balance on the student account. To receive work-study a student must be enrolled in at least six credit hours.
Directions for searching and applying for a job through the work-study program can be found on the UT Tyler Career Success website.
Work-Study Process
- Student must complete the FAFSA for the current academic year.
- The list will be reviewed by the Office of Financial Aid office for award eligibility.
- Award notices (or revised award notices) will be sent to the Patriot email account.
- The supervisor will submit a work-study appointment for approval.
- Work-study time sheets are completed on UTShare by the student for each payroll period and approved by their department supervisor.
- On campus job availability may be obtained from UT Tyler Career Success or visit Apply for a Work-study Job.
