Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is dedicated to providing comprehensive anesthesia and perioperative services for all patient care areas throughout UT Health East Texas. Areas of focus include: trauma, obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedic, pediatric, cardiac, thoracic, critical care and pain medicine. Our anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists are highly trained clinicians who take pride in providing high-quality, cutting-edge care for our patients.
The department also boasts the only Anesthesiology Residency training program in East Texas. Led by Drs. Evan Pivalizza and Janki Patel, our residency provides specialty training for physicians to become board certified anesthesiologists. Our mission is to provide outstanding perioperative care for our current patients while training aspiring anesthesiologists to ensure high quality care for future generations of East Texans. We are committed to the educational development of outstanding, well-rounded clinicians and health care leaders as well as the advancement of knowledge through scientific and clinical discovery.
