Student Organizations
UT Tyler Department of Mechanical Engineering
Students are urged to consider joining one or more engineering societies. Society student chapters are lead by engineering students who plan activities and programs. Engineering societies provide an opportunity to network with professional engineers employed in the community and to learn about internship and career opportunities. Student societies plan field trip and plant tours.
Participating in an engineering society permits students to meet classmates and faculty members in a social environment. Upon graduation, students may become a full member of an engineering society and continue to develop professional connections and technical competencies through involvement with the society.
American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME)
The mission of the UT Tyler student chapter of ASME shall be the advancement and dissemination of the theory and practice of mechanical engineering, the presentation of proper perspective of engineering work and the opportunity to become acquainted with the personnel and activities of the Society as well as to promote professional consciousness and fellowship.
Dr. Wathiq Ibrahim is the faculty advisor for the Tyler campus chapter.
Dr. Hussain Rizvi is the faculty advisor for the Houston campus chapter.
American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE)
