UT Tyler College of Engineering Undergraduate Advising

UT Tyler College of Engineering

Undergraduate Advising

Whether you are a freshman seeking advice on registration procedures, a student interested in attending our Houston Engineering Center, or a transfer student needing information on transferability of course work, we want to assist in making your transition to The University of Texas at Tyler as smooth as possible. Students are required to meet with their academic advisor each semester before they will be allowed to register for classes.

In an effort to protect you, the student, and our faculty and staff members, we are currently advising students remotely and not in person. To set up an advising appointment for the Tyler campus please email coeadvising@uttyler.edu, and for the Houston campus please email HEC@uttyler.edu

CURRENT STUDENTS:

Email your completed registration advising form to coeadvising@uttyler.edu (Tyler) or HEC@uttyler.edu (Houston). In this email students should indicate whether they want a “zoom appointment” where the advisor will zoom the student at a scheduled time, “phone appointment” where the advisor will call the student at a designated time, or an “email" appointment where the advisor will respond with email approval and/or comments. If you request a “zoom” or “phone” appointment we will follow up with you to set up the date and time. For “email” appointments, you will be scheduled for a time where the advisor will review your degree plan and course schedule. The time you are set is when the reviewal process will start, not when you will receive an email so please wait patiently. Your advisor will follow up with an email or phone call with any concerns by the evening of the scheduled time if at all possible.

NEW TRANSFER & PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS:

Students who will be starting with us Summer or Fall as a new transfer and have turned in official transcripts to Admissions will need to email and indicate what degree program they will be joining.  Prospective students and those who have not submitted all transcripts to admissions will need to also include copies of all unofficial transcripts in their email. Our advising staff will complete a degree check off sheet for the student and follow up with an email to set up an advising appointment.

NEW FRESHMAN:

After you are classified as Texas Success Initiative(TSI) complete by UT Tyler, you should receive an email from the College of Engineering to your Patriot email account that gives details about how to schedule an appointment for advising so that you may choose your classes and construct your schedule. In order to be registered, you must have submitted your meningitis shot record and have completed your registration agreement in myuttyler.
