Biography
Tara Propper received her PhD in English (with a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition)
from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently an Assistant Professor of English
and the Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Literature and Languages
at the University of Texas at Tyler. Her research focuses on turn-of-the-century print
culture, specifically the ways in which media develops in conjunction with new technological
advancements and how these in turn shape our literacy practices. This research applies
a historic framework to investigate the concept of “the public” and what it means
to write into or outside of this sphere.
