Miriam Rowntree is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies in the Department
of Literature and Languages at the University of Texas at Tyler. She earned her PhD
in English from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she completed a dissertation
titled “On the Subject of Ruins: A Fractured Rhetorical Ontology.” Miriam's research
interests currently focus on Writing Center Studies and Writing with AI. Her work
also focuses on developmental education as part of the College Readiness and Success
Models grant funded by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She has published
articles in journals such as a/b: autobiography studies and Utopian Studies. Miriam
also serves as the Writing Center Director and Composition Director at UT Tyler, where
she teaches courses ranging from first-year composition to advanced seminars in rhetoric
