UT Tyler Second Baccalaureate

Undergraduate Admissions

Students who have previously earned a degree from UT Tyler or another institution are welcome to apply for another bachelor’s degree. Students must declare their major upon application; undecided and no degree sought are not an option for the second baccalaureate.

To earn a second baccalaureate degree from UT Tyler, you must complete the requirements for the second major; six hours of U.S. History, three hours of Texas government and three hours of U.S. Government (if not taken as part of the first degree); and satisfy and lower-level requirements for the second degree. A second baccalaureate degree requires the completion of a minimum of 30 hours of resident credit in addition to the hours required for the first degree. Students are not allowed to enroll in graduate level coursework.

2. Pay your non-refundable application Fee
$60 for domestic students
$75 for international students
This can be paid when you submit your application through ApplyTexas, via our One Stop Service, or here. Unpaid applications will not be processed.

3. Send us your Official Transcripts*
Request from your college(s) to have all transcript(s) from all institutions attended sent to us via one of the ways listed below:
        - an electronic transcript method
        - via email at processing@uttyler.edu
        - Handed in to our One Stop Service Center (must be signed and sealed)
        - Via USPS to:
                   UT Tyler Office of Admissions

All transcripts from institutions attended must be received to review your application for admission. Baccalaureate degree verification is required. Transcripts more than 60 days old from print date will be considered unofficial.

Decisions

Students will hear of their decision via the email they provided on their application.

 

Honors

Second Baccalaureate degree candidates are eligible for academic honors if they complete a minimum of 45 semester credit hours of resident credit in addition to the hours required for the first degree. No duplication of hours from a previous degree can be used toward the 45 hour requirement. Honors will be awarded to students attaining the following final grade point averages:

Summa Cum Laude

3.90 to 4.00

Magna Cum Laude

3.70 to 3.89

Cum Laude

3.50 to 3.69
