Political science is a field of great breadth and diversity, and a very popular undergraduate major.

UT Tyler offers the political science BA/BS degree, providing a solid foundation for several career paths, including law, political analysis, political campaigns, journalism and education.

Graduates of the program are also well prepared to participate in community organizations, electoral politics, social and political movements, interest groups and organizations, and elected or appointed positions in government.

The political science course of study promotes critical thinking, ethics, citizenship skills, an understanding of cultural and social diversity within the national and international context, and communication and technological skills.
