The Department of History at The University of Texas at Tyler offers a broad-based liberal arts education to suit each student's individual interests and career goals with faculty who offer a wide range of courses and fields of expertise.
UT Tyler undergraduate and graduate programs in history provide excellent preparation for careers in a variety of fields, including elementary, secondary and higher education; library and archival work; law; and government.
The department offers the BA/BS in history degree, the MA in history degree and participates in MA/MS degree programs in interdisciplinary studies. Elective courses in history are offered for students seeking other undergraduate and graduate degrees.
In your history courses at UT Tyler, you will learn to:

- Design and implement appropriate research methodologies.
- Convey the results of your scholarly inquiries in effective oral and written communication.
