Graduate Teaching Assistantships

Graduate Program

The Department of Mathematics offers a number of graduate teaching assistantships to qualified students. A teaching assistantship is an excellent way to make money while working part-time to gain valuable teaching experience.

The first-year stipend for two semesters (fall and spring) is currently $12,000. This goes up to $13,000 for second-year teaching assistants. Students qualifying for graduate teaching assistantships also receive in-state tuition levels.

Duties associated with the teaching assistantship include some combination of teaching freshman-level mathematics courses, tutoring, and grading. Specific duties are assigned based on the abilities and talents of the student and on departmental needs.
