Tobacco-Free Campus for Employees

If you are a EMPLOYEE of UT Tyler, several tobacco cessation programs are available to you:


Pharmaceutical Therapy and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)

The UT Select Prescription Drug plan covers the following medications at a $0 copayment when they are used for prevention. To receive these medications at a $0 copayment, have an authorized prescription for the product dispensed by a participating mail or retail pharmacy. Please see the LivingWell website for more details on medications covered.


UT Select Medical Health Plan

FREE Tobacco Cessation Professional Counseling Program. You can contact the counseling program by phone at 866.412.8795, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  The professional counselors on the team are able to provide guidance and support along with licensed wellness coaches to assist individuals who are looking to end their tobacco usage. Individuals who call will also receive a free "Quit Kit" that includes items essential to success in the program.


Health Within Texas: Texas Tobacco Quitline

You can also contact the Texas Tobacco Quitline, 877.YES.QUIT (877.937.7848) for additional assistance with quitting smoking and/or usage of tobacco products. The Texas Tobacco Quitline can connect you to a quit coach who will conduct counseling sessions tailored specifically to you, with a focus on your preparation for the quit attempt and long-term success. They also provide access to self-help booklets designed to keep you motivated and prepared for life without smoking or tobacco and give advice about support programs available in the Tyler community.

National Cancer Institute

You can contact the National Cancer Institute as well to get connected to a smoking cessation counselor who is available to answer questions Monday - Friday from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. (CST) via telephone 877.44U.QUIT (877.448.7848).

Accountability Partner

The Office of Human Resources would like to assist in assigning accountability partners and/or setting up support groups for those who have made the decision to stop smoking and/or end the usage of tobacco products. If you are looking to quit smoking and/or end your use of tobacco and would like to be paired up with another employee or employees on campus who are going through the same process, please contact the HR office directly. We will connect you with other individuals who know exactly what you are going through in order to encourage and hold you accountable through your journey!
