Biological Agent Reference Sheets (BARS) are reference sheets containing information on biological agents that may be in many different labs nation-wide. The information provides an overview of the agent itself, handling procedures, and decontamination and notification procedures.  The references includes: bacteria, virus, fungus, and insects.  This list is continually edited for updated content and accuracy.

The BARS contact is provided as a courtesy and is not intended as a sole source or guide in the evaluation or experimentation of Biological Agents, their proteins, nor to serve as medical guidance. Do not rely on the BARS content for diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice. The BARS content is not intended to substitute for medical advice, medical care, diagnosis or treatment obtained from a physician or health care provider. Please seek the advice of a physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding these organisms and any medical condition.

These BARS are for educational purposes only. Consult an expert before making decisions on using these organisms in your experiment.

No endorsement of any specific organism, tests, products, or procedures is made by BARS content or affiliated party, reference, or member, agent or employee of The University of Texas at Tyler.

If you have any other questions concerning the BARS material please contact safety@uttyler.edu.
