Innovations in Nursing Scholarship Prepare and Inspire Robust Educators (INSPIRE)

The purpose of The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) School of Nursing (SON) Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) entitled Innovations in Nursing Scholarship Prepare and Inspire Robust Educators (INSPIRE) is to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty.  With a high-touch strategy offered entirely online, INSPIRE will provide advanced education nursing students with the essential financial, academic, and mentoring resources to transform the workforce by successfully transitioning students and practitioners to highly qualified nurse educators that are prepared to strengthen healthcare access, particularly through telehealth.

The NFLP is a loan program funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Health Professions which allows nursing schools to make loans to nursing students enrolled full time in advanced degree nursing programs.  NFLP loans made to eligible students can be used for the cost of tuition, fees, books, lab expenses and other reasonable education expenses, not including living expenses.  Students must complete a FAFSA to be eligible.  The NFLP provides funding to schools of nursing to support the establishment and operation of a distinct, interest-bearing NFLP loan fund.  The program offers partial loan forgiveness for borrowers that graduate and serve as full-time nursing faculty for the prescribed period.

To obtain a Nurse Faculty Loan, the student must complete an application NFLP INSPIRE application.  Here is a link to the NFLP Guidelines for your convenience.
