Assistant Professor
Wei-Chin Ho
Research
Dr. Ho’s research focuses on genetics and evolution in microorganisms. His research combines experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches and answers how microorganisms respond to environmental changes. The on-going topics include variations in the rates and effects of spontaneous mutations, phenotypic plasticity and robustness, the relative contribution of genetic drift and selection in evolution, and correlated evolution. He is also interested in studying the relationship between fitness and traits as well as identifying the underlying molecular mechanisms. The traits of interest include cell division and persistence, growth curves, metabolism, biofilm formation, and antibiotic resistance.
