Biography

As the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Javier Kypuros serves a two-campus college with programs in Tyler and Houston. The UT Tyler Houston Engineering Center is a partnership with Houston Community College (HCC). A former Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, he has served the majority of his career at Hispanic Serving Institutions including the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas-Pan American. Dr. Kypuros has authored dozens of technical manuscripts and a textbook entitled System Dynamics and Control with Bond Graph Modeling. He has been awarded millions in research from industry and federals sources, and in 2014 was recognized with the prestigious UT System Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award. Dr. Kypuros received his BSE from Princeton University in 1996 and his MSE and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
