With the online RN-BSN degree track, you can earn a career-advancing degree while continuing to work. Learn with full-time UT Tyler nursing faculty specialized in teaching in the online environment. You’ll receive the same rigorous preparation provided to BSN students who study on campus at a flat rate fee of $9,895. Advance from an associate degree or diploma RN to BSN status in as little as 12 months of intensive study or take as a long as you need to complete your BSN. Graduation dates are flexible. Core Curriculum

Students must be Texas Core-complete BEFORE beginning the Associate Degree RN to BSN Track. A maximum of five (5) outstanding prerequisite courses can be in progress during the time of application. Acceptance into the Associate Degree RN to BSN Track is conditional upon successful completion of core courses in progress.

Nursing Prerequisite Courses

  • Lifespan, Growth, and Development (PSYC 2320)

  • Introductory Psychology (PSYC 1301)

  • Statistics (MATH 1342)

  • Microbiology Lecture & Lab (BIOL 2320/BIOL 2120)

  • Anatomy & Physiology I Lecture & Lab (BIOL 2301/BIOL 2101)

  • Anatomy & Physiology II Lecture & Lab (BIOL 2302/BIOL 2102)

If you were not required to take a Chemistry course during your Associate Degree or Diploma Nursing program, your requirement to complete the course will be waived.

Admission Requirements

  • Completion of core curriculum and nursing courses with a grade of “C” or higher. All courses must be complete with a maximum of five courses “in progress” at the time of application.

  • Graduated from an Associate Degree Nursing program.

  • Hold an active Registered Nurse license.

Admission Deadlines

The application is open year round, however in order to start in your desired semester you should have your application submitted by the following dates:

  • Fall Semester Start:  #1 August 15 | #2 October 15
  • Spring Semester Start:  #1 January 1 | #2 February 15
  • Summer Semester Start:  #1 May 1 | #2 June 15

#1 is the first 7-week semester | #2 is the second 7-week semester

Application Process

Step 1:  Apply for admission to the university.

Step 2:  Contact your Academic Advisor to determine your eligibility to apply for admission.

Step 3:  Submit your application for the Associate Degree RN to BSN Track.  Must provide proof of graduation from an Associate Degree Nursing program and provide active RN license number.

Additional Information

  • All courses are offered completely online over two 7-week sessions each semester. Students can begin the program in either the first or second 7-week sessions. See 7-week course schedule/course offerings.

  • A student can complete a maximum of 6 credit hours of RNBS courses each 7-week session.

  • For those wishing to pursue graduation with honors: You will be required to complete another 15 hours of coursework to meet the 45-hour requirement.

  • If you are classified as an international student, please be aware that this track is offered completely online and therefore does not meet residency requirements for students who have F or J Visas.

  • If you are an online, out of state applicant, please be aware of reciprocity agreements that may impact clinical hours: State Authorization.
