Golden Apple Award

The Golden Apple Award is a prestigious recognition, elected by students, honoring a faculty member who has demonstrated top quality instruction and an exceptional dedication to student development and is passionate about their success. The faculty member is approachable and accessible to students and actively embraces teaching opportunities whenever possible. His/her professional and ethical standards exemplify integrity and a commitment to medical education. In summary, the faculty member is an exemplary educator, role model, and deserves recognition and gratitude.

1. Excellence in Teaching
  • Instruction: Uses creative and effective teaching methods that enhance learning.
  • Clarity and Organization: Explains complex concepts in a clear, structured manner.
  • Engagement and Enthusiasm: Actively engages students and displays passion for education.
2. Commitment to a Positive Learning Environment
  • Psychological Safety: Fosters a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and acknowledging mistakes.
  • Respect: Creates an environment where the students feel valued, heard, and empowered to contribute openly.
  • Team Collaboration: Values and encourages teamwork in both medical education and academic settings.
 
NOMINATIONS
 
Nominations will be accepted by the students of the MD program via a nomination form distributed each January. Review and recommendations will be made by the Faculty Honors and Awards Committee, with a final decision by the Dean.
