Award For Excellence In Education
PURPOSE
To recognize and celebrate an outstanding educator in acknowledgement of his or her commitment to the educational mission of the institution through support and development of educational programming in healthcare and research aimed at reducing health disparities in East Texas and beyond.
ELIGIBILITY

Distinguished Professors are not eligible for this award.
- For Spring 2025 Awards, those with two (2) years of UT Tyler School of Medicine service are eligible.
CRITERIA
1. The nominee should exemplify excellence in at least two (2) of the following domains
of education:

Teaching and Facilitating Learning
-
Program and Curriculum Development
-
Mentoring, Coaching, and Advising
-
Assessment and Evaluation
-
Educational Leadership
-
Educational Scholarship
2. The nominee has:
- Documented evidence of exemplary research/creative accomplishments, with impact in their discipline as evaluated by peers and experts in their field through publications and external awards.
- Significant local, national, and/or international recognition in the academic community.
NOMINATIONS
Nominations will be accepted by Department Chairs and Division Chiefs via nomination
form distributed each January.
Chairs will be expected to attach a copy of the faculty’s CV for review and consideration.
AWARD
Review and recommendations will be made by the Faculty Honors and Awards Committee, with a final decision by the Dean.
Award presented at the Spring Faculty Assembly.
