Roddy Scholarship
The Roddy Scholarship is awarded annually to an undergraduate biology major at The
University of Texas at Tyler to stimulate study and encourage investigation in the
life sciences. This scholarship is in memory of T. C. Roddy Sr. and Dr. W. Carl Roddy
and in honor of Verna and T. C. Roddy Jr., Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Roddy Jr. and family.
The recipient must be a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the field of study leading to the bachelor of science degree in biology and must have completed 12 semester hours at UT Tyler with a minimum grade point average of 3.0. Application forms may be completed online using the scholarships website. Indicate on the scholarship application that you would like to apply for the Roddy Scholarship. The deadline for application is usually in April.
Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society
Kappa Xi Chapter at The University of Texas at Tyler
Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Since its founding in 1922, more than 175,000 persons have been accepted into lifetime membership and more than 430 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
There are more than 400 chapters nationally, including the Kappa Xi Chapter at The
University of Texas at Tyler, which offers its members activities and experiences
that enrich and extend but do not duplicate the primary requirements for the biology

The Pre-Med Club
Joint Admissions Medical Program (JAMP)
The University of Texas at Tyler participates in the statewide Joint Admissions Medical
Program (JAMP). Highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students are encouraged
to pursue medical education through this program. There are two programs and application
procedures.
Students applying to UT Tyler who are interested in attending medical school after receiving the baccalaureate degree may apply to the UT Tyler Pre-JAMP program. UT Tyler Pre-JAMP is designed to facilitate a student’s application to the Texas JAMP program.
Any student interested in the State of Texas JAMP program may apply in the fall of their sophomore year. For more information on the JAMP program, contact ) Dr. Rachel Mason (903.565.5641) or visit the JAMP website.
