International Education Week 2022

Office of International Programs

International Education Week (IEW), November 14-18, 2022, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Monday, November 14

International Bazaar

Come celebrate the diversity that international education has brought to UT Tyler at the International Bazaar. There will be tables set up providing information and activities about different countries and cultures. Stop by to learn and meet some of UT Tyler’s international students.

Tuesday, November 15

Faculty-Led Fair

Short-term programs are an exciting and rewarding way to study away with UT Tyler. Taught and led by UT Tyler faculty, these programs are specifically designed to integrate course content and program location. Come and see what faculty-led trips are available now!

OPT Application Walk Through

Calling all F-1 international students! Optional Practical Training, or OPT, is an off-campus work authorization that could allow you to work 12 months full-time after you graduate. Join OIP staff in this session to learn more about this authorization and a walk through of the online application process.

Wednesday, November 16

Flag Walk

Due to forecasted rainy weather on Monday, the Flag Walk has been moved to Wednesday. The Flag Walk on campus celebrates our international population and countries represented at UT Tyler! Students, faculty, and staff will walk around campus holding flags representing their countries. They could also be carrying flags representing countries they visited or studied in. Others will carry flags connected to their family’s heritage or just a country flag of choice.

Volunteers carrying a flag will get a free t-shirt. And the Flag Walk ends with refreshments.

International Trivia Night

Ready to flex your international trivia knowledge? Participate in a team or as an individual. The winning team will get a prize! Open to students, staff, and faculty.

Thursday, November 17

Passport Day

Walk-in passport appointments available for all of campus! To be prepared, check out the U.S. Department of State website for passport document requirements, current fees, and other important information. Stop by for information and to ask questions!

Travel Signature Day

Winter break is coming up! If you are an F-1 international student planning to leave the U.S., you will need a travel endorsement signature on your I-20. Swing by any time all day to get a travel signature.
