Before you Apply
Make sure you apply to study the correct level of coursework on your application.
Please select Academic English courses if you have tested into upper intermediate to advanced levels (Levels 5 - 7).
We have a minimum enrollment requirement for face-to-face classes. Low enrollment may result in deferment.

- Contact ieli@uttyler.edu to receive the Application Form. There is an application fee of $130 USD. This fee
will need to be paid prior to issuance of the Letter of Acceptance. You can determine
how you would like to pay in the application.

- A student ID will be created for you within a few days. You will be provided with instructions and your ID in an email, so make sure to add ieli@uttyler.edu to your contacts to not miss any important messages.
International Students
To receive an I-20 document, you will need to submit the following:
- Completed Certificate of Financial Responsibility Form (CFR)
- Bank statement.
- Sponsor letter
- Proof of meningitis vaccination. Learn more.
- Proof of accepted form of TB screening if you are from a high-risk area. Learn more.
What to Expect
Applicants can generally expect an acceptance and welcome letter a few days after all documentation and application fee have been submitted. At that time, you will receive additional instructions on your I-20, visa interview, and medical requirements like tuberculosis screening and the meningitis vaccine. You may want to begin look into finding transportation from the airport to UT Tyler and housing for once you've arrived.
If you are applying for an F-1 or J-1 visa, please keep your original financial guarantee statement for your visa interview, but bring originals to check-in at the International Student Services Center (ISS) once you arrive to campus.
