Annual Assessment Reviews

Assessment Process and Rubrics

Office of Continuous Improvement and Accreditation

All UT Tyler assessment plans are maintained in Nuventive Improve Analytics. Assessment plans are reviewed annually using internal review rubrics to document that UT Tyler follows generally recognized assessment procedures. Improvement efforts using assessment results are documented to demonstrate a continuing commitment to quality and excellence.

Purpose of Assessment Plans

Assessment plans for academic programs, administrative departments and student support programs/services should:

  • Identify priority outcomes (Student Learning Outcomes, Student Outcomes, and/or Administrative Outcomes);
  • Establish methods to measure progress attainment with pre-determined success criteria;
  • Report assessment results with supporting documentation;
  • Develop continuous improvement plans; and
  • Document the effect of previous improvement plans (closing the loop).

All outcomes align with the college, department, and university mission statements and strategic plans, respectively.

Please consult the UT Tyler Assessment Handbook or contact cia@uttyler.edu with questions.

Annual Review Process

All educational programs, academic and student support services, and administrative units participate in annual assessment, analysis, and planning for quality improvement at the program or unit level. Assessment plans are maintained in Nuventive Improve software. The college/school assessment professionals schedule individual meetings with the academic program coordinators and/or department chairs to complete initial reviews of the annual assessment plan updates using internal rubrics, and AIE Office staff follow the same process to complete annual reviews of administrative and academic/student support services units.

An annual Assessment and Planning Summary Review meeting is orchestrated with the Deans and assessment coordinators for each college, then with the appropriate vice president or provost as the final step in the review process for each assessment cycle. The VP review meetings include discussion of the planning strategies in each assessment plan.
