Rachel Evans joined the team of ESL instructors at The University of Texas at Tyler's
Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) in late 2014 and serves as an IELI instructor, as
well as works on web communications, marketing and recruitment. In addition, Ms.
Evans is a trained U.S. Department of State Passport Acceptance Agent and serves as
the Passport Acceptance Facility Coordinator for the IELI International Community Services unit.
She loves to travel and has been to China, Singapore and Thailand as well as to France
and Germany. She has lived, studied and taught in China, and speaks some conversational
Mandarin Chinese and is currently studying French. Her overseas experience helps her
to relate to some of the struggles IELI students may face with culture shock and adjusting
to the new environment. She received her B.A. degree in TESOL from Howard Payne University
in 2008.
