Dr. Thom Maryon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Healthcare Policy,
Economics and Management at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler.
As a Certified Online Instructor through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
areas of teaching expertise include healthcare management, managed care, human resource
management, leadership, strategic planning, healthcare law, and business process improvement.
Dr. Maryon was the recipient of the 2021 Outstanding Faculty Member Award for the
Master in Health Administration Program.
Dr. Maryon has served as a senior level executive with a successful history of working
in managed care and the healthcare industry. Prior to joining The University of Texas
Health Science Center at Tyler Dr. Maryon served as vice president of clinical program
operations at Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) and was responsible for developing
and delivering market leading care-management programs for HCSC customers.
With more than 40 years of experience in the healthcare sector, he strives to educate
and develop emerging health and managed care leaders to significantly impact and improve
the outcomes of healthcare delivery today and into the future.
