Ms. Sharon Amaral Back - Online Graduate Admissions Coordinator, Instructional and Evaluation Support Specialist

Sharon Amaral Back is an Online Graduate Admissions Coordinator, Instructional and Evaluation Support Specialist for the School of Education and Psychology. She has worked at UT Tyler since December 1998.  She has been honored with the Star Employee of the Month award twice during her time at the university.

Sharon was born and raised in Weatherford, Texas. She graduated from Weatherford High School where her high school mascot was a "kangaroo." She then continued her education at Cisco Junior College where she obtained an Associate in Applied Science degree in 1985.

In 1987, Sharon received her Bachelor of Business Administration with a secondary teaching certification in business and physical education. In 1989, she returned to school at The University of Texas at Tyler and obtained her elementary education certification.

Sharon began working at The University of Texas at Tyler as an administrative assistant for the Department of Special Services in 1993. She worked in this position for two years until she began teaching computer related courses at Arp Junior High School in August 1995. She continued teaching until moving into her current position at the University.

In the midst of teaching and beginning her current position, Sharon received her Masters of Education in educational administration degree in May 1999.
