Transferability of Credits

The BAAS degree was specifically designed to enable students to use various transcripted credits, nationally and international recognized exams, industry certificates and credentials, and prior learning and work experiences to count toward the degree. A maximum number of 87 credits can be applied to the BAAS as transfer or credit by prior learning. All BAAS students must earn 33 upper-division credits at UT Tyler.

What Kind of Credits and Experiences Could be Applied Toward the BAAS Degree?

  • Credit by Examination (e.g. CLEP, AP, IB, Cambridge)
  • Workforce credits (nonacademic courses, such as welding or diesel mechanic courses, are often referred to as WECM credits in Texas)
  • Academic credits from a community college or university
  • Industry credentials or licensures
  • Military experiences or credentials
  • Prior independent learning experiences
  • Prior work experiences

How Do I Get My Various Credits Applied to My BAAS Degree?

For traditionally transcripted credits (credit by examination, workforce credits, or academic credits), you submit your official test scores and transcript(s) to the UT Tyler Office of the Registrar.
