University sees growth across academic programs, student retention rates
The University of Texas at Tyler celebrated a preliminary 8.49% enrollment increase for spring 2025, with a total enrollment of 10,015 students. This marks the highest spring enrollment in institutional history.
“This unprecedented growth in our spring enrollment reflects the efforts of our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success,” said UT Tyler President Julie V. Philley, MD.
Undergraduate enrollment is 7,196, which is a 5.45% increase (372 students) over the previous year, while graduate enrollment rose to 2,819, a 17.12% increase (412 students) over the previous spring semester. UT Tyler’s First-Time-In-College (FTIC) fall-to-spring retention rate rose to 93.15%, a 1.5% increase, while the transfer fall-to-spring retention rate improved to 87.46%, a 1.41% increase.
“We are delighted by the historic enrollment this spring as every UT Tyler academic college saw increased undergraduate enrollment,” said Dr. Amir Mirmiran, UT Tyler provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We also recorded 109,885 semester credit hours, which is the highest for any spring term in university history.”
Among the largest academic units, the Soules College of Business saw a 15.03% increase in spring enrollment, with a total of 857 students, while the School of Nursing also achieved the largest spring enrollment in program history with a 39.03% increase (242 students) over last spring, with 862 students.
