The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine joined the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, a federal initiative to support research in biomedicine, technology and artificial intelligence.
Through this membership, UT Tyler faculty and staff can facilitate research collaborations with other ARPA-H members, such as Havard Medical School and Mayo Clinic Platform.
“Joining ARPA-H opens a myriad of opportunities for our school,” said Dr. Brigham C. Willis, School of Medicine founding dean. “This membership will enhance our capacity for cutting-edge research and collaborations with the leading institutions in health care and education. We are excited to leverage this platform to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes.”
ARPA-H advances promising biomedical and health research that cannot be readily accomplished through traditional research or commercial activity. Its mission is to accelerate better health outcomes for everyone by supporting the development of high-impact solutions to society's most challenging health problems.
With a mission to improve educational and health care outcomes for East Texas and beyond, UT Tyler offers more than 90 undergraduate and graduate programs to nearly 10,000 students. Through its alignment with UT Tyler Health Science Center and UT Health East Texas, UT Tyler has unified these entities to serve Texas with quality education, cutting-edge research and excellent patient care. Classified by Carnegie as a doctoral research institution and by U.S. News & World Report as a national university, UT Tyler has campuses in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
