UT Tyler Charter School in Longview Announces 2024 UIL Academics District Winners

The University of Texas at Tyler University Academy-Longview campus announced winners of this year’s University Interscholastic League Academics district meet.

“We are so proud of all of our students and celebrate their success, as well as all the UIL teachers
who are truly dedicated in helping students become academically competitive,” said Dr. Jo Ann
Simmons, UA superintendent.

UIL 2024 district winners are:
• Janna Stenhouse, third place in accounting.
• Baylee Mauer, fifth place in accounting.
• Annie Tran, sixth place in calculator applications.
• Amyah McDougal, second place in current issues and events.
• Ava Moore, fourth place in current issues and events.
• Emily Roberts, first place in biology, top scorer overall in biology, third place in mathematics and
third place in science.
• Kate Wallace, first place in mathematics and fourth place in calculator applications.
• Zoei Gan, fifth place in mathematics.
• Elias Jimenez, second place in number sense.
• Chole Trichel, fifth place in science.
• Wallace, Tran, Cynthia Cervantes and Hailey Johnson, second place in team calculator
applications.
• McDougal, Moore, Aidan Morrow and Sara Fajardo, first place in team current issues and events.
• Wallace, Roberts, Gan and Jimenez, first place in team mathematics.
• Roberts, Andrea Ortiz, Trichel and Gan, second place in team science.
• Ortiz, Jessica Mashburn, Mauer and Tanner Ekern, second place in team social studies.
• Mauer, Connor O’Neil, Stenhouse and Ekern, first place in team accounting.

The UIL academic meet tests students, both individually and in teams, on their knowledge and skills over many content areas including speech and debate, writing, math and literary knowledge.
The UT Tyler University Academy is a K-12 public university laboratory charter school with
campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine. UT Tyler UA offers STEM curriculum in a hands-on
