The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center will hold its 2024 open house event on Saturday, March 23. The annual event highlights the three UT Tyler units that serve Longview and Gregg County.

“Open House: Discover UT Tyler in Longview” will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the LUC, located at 3201 North Eastman Road in Longview.

“This year, our open house not only highlights UT Tyler’s impact in the local area, but it also will showcase programs, activities and investments in the Longview-Gregg County community by UT Tyler,” said Dr. Rodney Ellis, UT Tyler LUC director.

Participants will learn about:

  • Longview University Center – Currently offering nursing and industrial technology degree completion courses with plans to offer education and business management courses.
  • University Academy-Longview – UT Tyler’s K-12 public charter school offering STEM curriculum in a hands-on learning environment. UA plans to increase its current capacity by adding another section of Grades 5, 6 and 7 for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • UT Tyler-Longview Small Business Development Center – Provides no-cost consulting and advising services to budding entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • UT Tyler and Kilgore College Partnership – Provides a seamless pathway for Longview area students to earn a bachelor’s degree close to home, with Kilgore College offering the first two years of coursework at the LUC and students transitioning into upper-level UT Tyler courses.

Representatives from Longview area community service organizations, employer partners and the UT Tyler main campus will also have informational booths. Food, games and giveaways will be provided. For more information, contact Ellis at rellis@uttyler.edu.
