Dr. Pradeep “Max” Dass has been selected the new dean of The University of Texas at Tyler College of Education and Psychology, effective Sept. 1. Dass currently serves as the Walkup Distinguished Professor of Science Education and Department of STEM Education chair at Northern Arizona University.

“We selected Dr. Dass from numerous qualified candidates,” said UT Tyler President Kirk A. Calhoun, MD, FACP. “Dr. Dass has an impressive depth of knowledge and more than three decades of experience in science education.”

His work as an educator and department chair has been driven and motivated by a deep commitment to high quality educational experiences for all students (pre-K-12 through college). He also has had several active grants in STEM education.

“I am excited about this new opportunity to serve as the dean and look forward to enhancing the preparation of professionals in the fields of education and psychology in East Texas,” Dass said.

He holds a Master of Science in botany from Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University and a doctorate in science education from the University of Iowa.
