UT Tyler Announces MARC Open House July 11

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold an open house event for its Memory Assessment and Research Center on Tuesday, July 11. The UT Tyler center offers free dementia and other brain-related screenings to the East Texas community. 

The open house will be 4:30 – 6 p.m. at the MARC, located at 3531 South Broadway Avenue in Tyler. To RSVP, visit uttyler.edu/advancement/events/marc-open-house/ or call 903.566.7487.

“We welcome UT Tyler alumni, friends of the university and the entire East Texas community to take a tour of our facilities, meet the MARC team and learn about our innovative research and the state-of-the-art services that are made available,” said Dr. Michael Barnett, UT Tyler assistant professor of psychology and MARC director.

The UT Tyler MARC is dedicated to innovative scientific research and improving the lives of Tyler, Smith County and East Texas community members by providing neuropsychological screening and evaluation services to older adults with suspected or existing cognitive impairment.

In addition to its services and research, MARC offers therapeutic services for caregivers and family members through its partnership with the Alzheimer’s Alliance of Smith County. The center also provides UT Tyler students with clinical/research training, clinical experience and research data for publications to further their education and help them reach their professional goals.
