UT Tyler Mass Communication Students Earn Eight Awards at State Contest

The University of Texas at Tyler announced that mass communication students received eight awards at the 2023 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Conference.

“These students did a great job representing our university,” said Danny Mogle, UT Tyler lecturer and student media adviser. “I am proud that they are doing work being recognized as among the best in the state.”

Students earning TIPA awards in competitions held at the convention include:
• Noah Tew of Lindale – first place in news photo.
• Nathan Witt of Mineloa – first place in headline writing.
• LaKyndra Larkin of Flint – third place in TV news writing.

Students earning TIPA awards for previously published material include:
• Breanna Bolle of Longview and Paulina Mata of New London – first place in critical review.
• Witt – second place in podcasting.
• Brynna Williamson of Mineola – second place in feature story/Spanish language and second
place in news story/Spanish language.
• Bolle – honorable mention for multimedia feature story.

The annual conference provides on-site competition, training and recruitment opportunities for student journalists from across the state while recognizing excellence for previously published work in student newspapers and websites. For more information, visit https://texasipa.org/.
