The University of Texas at Tyler has announced the return of the Patriot Classic following a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

The event is comprised of the Southside Million Dollar Hole-in-One and the BMW of Tyler Patriot Golf Classic. Since 1986, UT Tyler has held the Patriot Classic, one of the largest annual fundraisers benefiting UT Tyler student scholarships. Each Classic event is staffed by community volunteers and supported by numerous organizations.

Each year, two deserving students are selected to receive a full UT Tyler scholarship. In addition to the two full scholarships awarded, at least 20 students will receive a $1,000 current use scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year. To date, the university has raised nearly $2.4 million for the PGC student scholarship endowment fund.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to the alumni, volunteers and businesses who support the Patriot Classic,” said Archie Tucker II, PhD, senior vice president of university advancement. “We especially want to thank those sponsors who continued their support, even when we were not able to hold the fundraiser due to COVID.”

The 2022 Southside Bank Patriot Million Dollar Hole-In-One Contest will be held 4-8 p.m. March 21–24 at the UT Tyler Intramural Field on the main campus in Tyler. The public contest offers amateur golfers age 18 and older the chance to compete, at $1 per shot, in preliminary daily rounds. HIO qualifiers have the opportunity to win a $1 million, a 2022 BMW or a $25,000 cash prize with a hole-in-one at the finals that will be held the day of the Patriot Golf Classic Tournament. No registration is required.

The 2022 BMW of Tyler Patriot Golf Classic Tournament will take place Monday, March 28, at The Cascades Golf & Country Club in Tyler, where there will be giveaways and activities throughout the course for golfers. Registration is required and begins at 10:30 a.m.
