The University of Texas at Tyler University Academy recently announced that its Palestine campus has been recognized for high achievement in student success. The UA campus is one out of 855 public Texas schools to be named an Honor Roll School by Educational Results Partnership, a leader in advancing college and career readiness.

This is the first time in district history that UA Palestine has received the honor. Operated by the UT Tyler College of Education and Psychology, University Academy is a state-funded charter school founded in 2012 with campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.

"We are pleased that the Educational Results Partnership has selected the University Academy at Palestine campus for this prestigious designation," said Dr. Jo Ann Simmons, University Academy superintendent. "This achievement celebrates the work of our teachers, administrators, staff and students. It confirms that our student-centered model of instruction supports our goal of developing students who are prepared to make successful transitions into a university system. We are so proud."

The Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Offering grades K-12, the University Academy specializes in STEM education and project-based learning. The district currently enrolls more than 750 students. For more information, visit uttia.org/.
