The University of Texas at Tyler announced that it will hold the ETX Roundup Saturday, Oct. 13 at the intramural fields to close its week of student appreciation activities.

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 3 p.m., with festivities starting at 4 p.m. Country singer-songwriter Chase Bryant is the featured performer taking the stage at 5:30 p.m.

"ETX Roundup is a fun and unique way to conclude our Patriot Days celebration," said Ashlea Wilson, assistant director of university center operations & student engagement. "We felt it was important to have an event that had a lot of family friendly fun so that the community, faculty and staff could bring their families."

Bryant is a singer/songwriter whose debut single "Take It On Back" was a top 10 single on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. He has toured with country singers Tim McGraw and Brantley Gilbert.

His musical lineage includes his grandfather, Jimmy, who performed with Roy Orbison and Waylon Jennings, as well as his uncles, Jeff and Junior, co-founders of the country music band Ricochet.

The chili cook-off contest will have two categories: Student Organizations/Groups and Colleges and Departments/Alumni.
