The University of Texas at Tyler Innovation Academy in Longview has been recognized for high achievement in student success, Dr. JoAnn Simmons, superintendent, announced.

The IA Longview campus have been selected by Educational Results Partnership and the Institute for Productivity in Education as one of 727 public Texas schools to receive the title of 2016 Honor Roll School.

"This honor is directly related to the quality of teachers and staff at The University of Texas at Tyler Innovation Academy-Longview," said Simmons. "They are truly committed to developing a culture of high expectations for all students. Students are challenged daily through a rigorous curriculum, supporting STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] University Readiness. We are indeed honored and proud of this accomplishment."

The Honor Roll is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. Since 2016, the Honor Roll has focused business and academic leaders around a common agenda for high performing public schools leading to increased college success and economic productivity.

"We are honored to be named as an Honor Roll school for 2016," added Rachel Hawkins, IA Longview campus director. "Our teachers work diligently to develop positive relationships with our students. We strive to establish and maintain a rigorous and engaging learning environment through Project-based Learning. To be recognized for our achievements is humbling."

The University of Texas at Tyler Innovation Academy is a public university charter school with campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
